Jason Plato, sandwiches, Tesco and fuel cards

09/07/2012

Double British Touring Car Championship winner Jason Plato, who races in the spectacular all-new MG6 GT, has joined forces with fuelGenie's fuel cards partner Tesco Petrol Filling Stations in an association that's set to take racing fans by storm. The champion's favourite sandwich filling, created especially for Tesco Petrol Filling Stations, is proving an equally big winner!

Jason Plato and his fellow MG KX Momentum Racing team

Jason Plato and his fellow MG KX Momentum Racing team mate Andy Neate are competing well in this year's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship with Jason currently third in the standings. The team has a close relationship with Tesco Petrol Filling Stations, as do fuelGenie (who also work in partnership with top supermarket brand Morrisons). As you can imagine, everyone concerned is delighted to be associated with the event.

Cut your fuel costs with Tesco's Momentum99

The partnership between Jason and Tesco Petrol Filling Stations is about much more than thrills, entertainment and winning races. It's about helping visitors use their cars more intelligently too, with a strong focus on Tesco's excellent high-octane performance fuel, Momentum99, plus a host of creative ideas, hints and tips about reducing everyday fuel bills.

Jason's favourite sandwich filling takes Tesco's pole position

At the same time, Tesco's very special Jason Plato buttie has taken pole position at Tesco Petrol Filling Stations right across the country. Apparently it's his all-time favourite sandwich filling, and the general driving public seem to agree. The Jason Plato sandwich is a delicious Tesco Deli Club ham, coleslaw and jalapeno mayonnaise masterpiece, launched recently to celebrate Tesco's BTCC MG KX Momentum team sponsorship and is only available via Tesco Petrol Filling Station kiosks.

Jason, who is known at home as the Sandwich King, is "incredibly excited and privileged" to have a sandwich named after him. And Peter Cattell, the Category Director for Tesco Petrol Filling Stations, is equally pleased. "We're really proud to be sponsoring the team and we hope our customers like the sandwich we've created to mark the partnership as much as Jason does."

Petrol isn't the only fuel, and Jason will need all the energy he can get to lead the MG KX Momentum racing team to victory in this year's close-run and highly competitive Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. We'd like to wish you the best of luck, Jason.
